Question 1: How is the beginning of your senior project? What
do you like and dislike?
The beginning of my senior project is going well so far. I have enjoyed learning in depth about marksmanship. The things I have learned so far I already know will be helpful in choosing my career path after I graduate high school. The one thing that I dislike about the senior project is the amount of work that must be completed before ever writing the paper. For instance, I don't find this reflection terribly helpful. If I am to be perfectly honest I feel like I am wasting time.
Question 2: What do you feel you can do better in order
complete your project?
Currently I feel like I am doing everything I can to complete my project on time. If I had to choose something to improve on I would say that I could record longer facts on my research notes page, so that my paper will be easier to write.
Question 3: What are you most excited about and what do you
feel you are doing well?
I am very excited to begin recording my project hours. I think that the time I spend honing my skills in marksmanship will be very fun.
Reflection 2
1. Have you found a mentor yet? If so, who are they, and why do you think they will be a good mentor? If you haven't found a mentor, then where have you looked?
Yes my mentor is a licensed Concealed Carry Permit holder. His name is Donnie Gray. He has proven he is qualified to carry and operate a handgun. He is thoroughly tested in order to obtain his permit.
2. What are you planning on doing for the first 3 hours of your project?
I will go to the shooting range and practice my marksmanship with a .357 Smith and Wesson handgun.
3. How much money will your project cost? What type of materials will you need?
It will cost between two and three hundred dollars. I will need ammunition and 60$ to take the Concealed Weapons class.

1. You should now be halfway through with your product hours. Please detail what you have done for 7 hours of your product. If you have not completed 7 hours, give a plan for how you will catch up on your time and get back on track:
So far in my 7 hours I have spent time learning the safety required to handle a firearm as well as practiced with many different firearms. I have spent several weekends simply practicing my trigger pull as well as shooting in different positions that accommodate the terrain.
2. For your presentation, how will you show the judges what you have learned?
For my presentation I will show the judges what I have learned by putting together a video of my acquired skills.
3. If you were to make a 3 minute video, or segments adding up to 3 minutes, what would you film to show your project?
I would film my self breaking down my firearm in addition to shooting it with an example of my improvement from my first hour to my last.
4. What can you do better to ensure your project will be a success?
I think I am currently doing all that is necessary to ensure my project is successful.
Senior Project Self-Evaluation
1. Upon reflection, did you choose the right senior project topic? Why or why not?
Yes, absolutely I have defiantly gained a higher interest and understanding of firearms.
2. Did you conduct enough research for the paper? Why or why not?
Yes I conducted almost the perfect amount of research.
3. Were you willing to revise the research paper every time? Did you begin the writing process early enough for revision? Describe your revision process. Were having rough drafts and being able to revise beneficial?
Yes I was willing to revise my paper but by the third revision I found very little to correct. Although the opportunity to revise my paper was extremely beneficial.
4. Did you ask your teacher for help when you did not understand a particular assignment or aspect of the project?
Yes
5. Explain what your physical product was. How much time did you spend on your physical product? Could you have put more effort into it?
My physical project was the improvement in my shooting over the period of the project. I put a very appropriate amount of effort into my project.
6. Did you put forth significant time and effort into your portfolio? Is it professional in appearance? Is it creative? Is it complete? What would you change about it?
I put forth a lot of effort in making my portfolio creative and professional. It appears very complete.
7. How much effort did you put into preparing your oral presentation? Describe your efforts. Did you prepare early enough?
I spent significant time preparing for my presentation. To help prepare I have reviewed my speech outline. I feel that I got an early start on the oral presentation and took advantage of that.
8. Do you feel proud of this project? Does it represent your very best work?
Yes
9. What was the most challenging part of senior project?
The most challenging part of my project has defiantly been the hours that I have dedicated to practicing marksmanship.
10. What is the most significant fact or skill that you learned by completing this project?
The most significant thing I learned is that it takes much more than 15 hours to become an expert marksmanship.
11. How do you think completing senior project will help prepare you for college or a future career?
It has taught me time management and especially how to be persistent.
12. What letter grade would you give yourself on the entire senior project? Why?
I would give myself an A. I think my work reflects this grade.
